Alaturka festival

 July 3th - Saturday

US, Canadian, Mexican and Japanese students will fly out to Turkey

 July 4th - Sunday

European students will fly to Turkey. Folk Tours students begin arriving. We will arrange pick ups from airport and transportation to our hotel, attendees can get settled in. Our festival begins and we will have dinner in our hotel and an informal orientation meeting with a fun and informative lecture on Turkey and Turkish customs after dinner. (D)

July 5th - Monday

Breakfast in hotel, exchange money, guided tour of the amazing Grand Bazaar. Founded in 1453, the Grand Bazaar has over 4000 shops including restaurants, workshops, banks and mosques. Lunch. After shopping to our hearts content. We will enjoy dinner in boat tour. PM activity –Boat tour - Istanbul by night! Cruise between two continents (B.D)

 July 6th - Tuesday

Breakfast in hotel 1 1/2 hour dance classes in the morning Lunch in hotel Two dance classes (1 1/2 hour each) in the afternoon PM activity: Oriental and Folk Dance show with live music and dinner in a typical Turkish Cabaret known as a "Gasino". (B.D)

July 7th - Wednesday

Breakfast in hotel, 1 1/2 hour dance classes in the morning Lunch in hotel Two dance classes (1 1/2 hour each) in the afternoon Dinner at the hotel PM activity: Night out on the town to listen to some local music and practice our new dance moves! (B.D)

July 8th - Thursday
 

Breakfast in hotel, 1 1/2 hour dance classes in the morning Lunch in hotel Two dance classes (1 1/2 hour each) in the afternoon PM activity - Dinner in Kumkapi - the bustling seaport -serenaded with live music by Romany musicians. (B.D)
 

July 9th - Friday

Breakfast in hotel, 1 1/2 hour dance classes in the morning Lunch in hotel Two dance classes (1 1/2 hour each) in the afternoon No PM activity. You are free to explore Istanbul - we will have lots of suggestions! Dinner on your own (B)

July 10th - Saturday

Breakfast in hotel, all day free to make last minute purchases, or do some exploring, lunch and dinner are on your own. Our hotel is in walking distance of Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofia and the Underground Cistern - all sights not to be missed! PM activity is our Goodbye Party and Teacher show with live music - students are welcome to perform, lots of open dancing! (B)

July 11th - Sunday

Breakfast and goodbye in hotel, transportation from hotel to airport, beginning of optional tours.(B)


Note  Day and PM activities are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Things can happen that will require flexibility in the schedule. For example, if it rains, the boat tour may have to take place on another night. Also, we cannot tell you which days each dance instructor will teach because it is possible that a plane may be delayed, or an instructor may feel ill. We can, however, tell you when each class will be offered.

All breakfast and most meals are included in your package deal. (B) = Breakfast included, (L) = lunch included and (D) = dinner included.

All music classes will be arranged on an individual basis by appointment with our instructors. Daily class schedule and itinerary will be posted in the lobby of the hotel every day.

Our friendly staff has plenty of helpful suggestions and advice and we are happy to answer any questions you may have during our time together!
